چکیده
This Internet Appendix presents material that is supplemental to the main analysis and tables in “Firm Level Productivity, Risk, and Return.”We supplement the empirical analysis in the paper with details on the measurement of TFP, detailed description of data, additional properties of TFP, and empirical robustness checks. We supplement the theoretical analysis with a figure to illustrate the model mechanism and details of our numerical solution method. ∗Department of Finance and Business Economics, Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA 90089-1427. Firm Specific Risk and Return: Quantile Regression Application
The present study aims at investigating the relationship between firm specific risk and stock return using cross-sectional quantile regression. In order to study the power of firm specific risk in explaining cross-sectional return, a combination of Fama-Macbeth (1973) model and quantile regression is used. To this aim, a sample of 270 firms listed in Tehran Stock Exchange during 1999-2010 was i...
متن کاملFirm-Level Productivity, Risk, and Return
This paper provides new evidence about the link between firm level total factor productivity (TFP) and stock returns. We estimate firm level TFP and show that it is strongly related to several firm characteristics such as size, the book to market ratio, investment, and hiring rate. Low productivity firms earn a significant premium over high productivity firms in the following year, and this pre...
متن کاملInternet Appendix for “ A Unified Theory of Tobin ’ s q , Corporate Investment , Financing , and Risk Management ” ∗
This appendix is organized as follows. Section A examines our model’s implication for the risk and return on equity, in particular, on how beta changes with the firm’s cash holdings. Section B studies the comparative statics of the stationary cash-capital ratio distributions. Section C calculates the endogenous average financing costs. Section D presents a model that endogenizes the credit line...
متن کاملA Online Appendix: Census Uncertainty Data
We use data from the Census of Manufactures (CM) and the Annual Survey of Manufactures (ASM) from the U.S. Census Bureau to construct an establishment-level panel. Using the CompustatSSEL bridge (CPST-SSEL) we merge the establishment-level data with Compustat and CRSP high frequency firm-level financial and sales data which allows us to correlate firm and industry-level cross-sectional dispersi...

This appendix contains supplemental results. First, Section 1 shows that we observe high within-industry variance even when different levels of aggregations are used for defining the industry categories. Sections 2, 3 and 4 contain technical details of the formal model. Section 5 and 6 include a set of robustness check results in which we examine the effects of product differentiation and firm-...
